address:
31-023 Kraków, pl. Św. Ducha
Description:
This exquisite theatre was opened in 1893. It’s a miniature version of Charles Garnier’s famous Paris Opera House. It’s virtually impossible to get in here during the day, but given the very reasonable price of tickets, it’s worth catching a performance even if the show turns out to be unspectacular – the building itself certainly is spectacular – an absolute treasure. There are regular opera performances of all the European and Polish classics. Many of Poland’s great Romantic and Neo-Romantic plays were premiered here a century ago, and these have also become stalwarts of the theatre’s programme.
